A few words about the car from the current
owner (Lance Miller):
This is the only 1988 Corvette Challenge Car in the
Miller collection dubbed as “The Poster Child”.
This car was used in various promotions and advertising
for the 1988 Corvette Challenge Series through General
Motors, the #33 car was famous for all the right reasons.
While the race series itself was hot, the #33 was
on fire, literally! Driven for the series by Mark
Dismore, the car unexpectedly burst into a giant fireball,
sending flames upwards of thirty feet into the air
and the driver, dramatically leaping to safety out
of the burning inferno! General Motors never released
why the car burned, but anyone who knows challenge
racing, knows this car.
At the time, Doug Rippie owned the car and he offered
it to the Millers after stating he would fit a new
shell onto it. The Millers agreed, and what they have
now is essentially a brand new 1988 Challenge car
wearing full race regalia and all the right equipment
inside as well.
Needless to say the car had a full restoration completed
by Doug Rippie Motorsports (the previous owner of
the car) and was brought back to its original race
condition for the collection so others can enjoy.
A lot of sweat and blood went into making this car
look the way it sits today, the Miller’s are
thrilled to have it as a part of their collection.
The car also came with the original computer box wired
in the back of the vehicle which is a true rarity
for any Corvette Challenge Car.
Lance and his father took this car on the Bloomington
Gold Road Tour and had their picture implemented in
advertisements in various magazines.
