I've certainly learned a lot about vintage racing preparation on our Challenge Cars. First, these cars are the ticket into vintage races - depending on the organization you register with (which appears to me to be by region), the rules are different. For me, I like SVRA as they race across the country and at very prestigious tracks. To me, it is a bucket list item to get on some of these tracks...

Okay, SVRA - my biggest issue has been the fuel cell requirement. After a ton of research regarding C4 fuel cells, the best option for me was to have FuelSafe retrofit a C4 tank to fit in the original tank's location http://fuelsafe.com/store/sa107a-corvette-fuel-cell.html. While I could install a regular cell, there is a lot of modification required that I was not interested in doing. With the FuelSafe retrofit, I retained an 'in-tank' fuel pump, and had them install a 90ohm fuel level sending unit - it's pretty plug and play vs. the alternative.

Tires - no slicks allowed! What the SVRA rules do not specify for our class (Group 10 B/P) http://www.svra.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/02/Corvette_C4_84-95.pdf, is if we can use street-legal slicks.... TBD.

Battery-Cutoff - planning to mount this to the passenger side roll-bar.

Cooling - DeWitts double row radiator and 2360CFM fan upgrade http://www.dewitts.com/collections/corvette-aluminum-radiators/products/1984-1989-aluminum-radiator. It fits right in and doesn't look out of place... however the fan is loud!

There are more modifications coming - to include the addition of a gauge pod with oil pressure/temp warning lights.

I'll keep this updated as Paul Read and I proceed to get ready for the 2016 season.

Regards,
Mark
